The name of Shantipur village is also as calm as it is. The people of the village get down to their work at the beginning of the day as soon as the sun shines. Raghu was born thirty years ago in this village. Raghu's father was a farmer, and mother a simple housewife. Both the parents worked hard to run the daily expenses of the family. Raghu spent his childhood running in the paddy field and studying in the village school. Raghu was not interested in studies, instead he wanted to work in the fields like his father.
But his mother never wanted that. He always said, "It is good to work on the land, but finish your education first. Without the light of education, you will have to live a difficult life."
But Raghu's mind was on that land and crops. Despite this, he continued his studies to keep his mother's word. After passing high school, he enrolled in a college in the city. His parents struggled to pay for his education. Raghu also focused on his studies with all his mental strength, so as not to return to the village somehow. His goal was only one thing - to get a job, and somehow manage the family.
After finishing college, Raghu started trying for a job. He did not want to return to the village and join the land work again. Because he knew there was no future in agriculture. At that time a new factory was built in the village. Hearing the news of the factory, new hope arose in Raghu's mind. He thought, "If all this studying is of no avail, at least I will get some work in this factory."
Raghu went and met the owner of the factory. The owner's name was Mr. Dutt. He is a big businessman in the city, he needs many workers in this new factory. As Raghu stood in front of him, Mr. Dutt listened to him very attentively. But he gave one condition, "If you want to work in my factory, you have to do not only physical labor, but also mental labor. The work will be on the machine. If you learn to operate the machine, then I can hire you."
Machine! This is a completely new thing for Raghu. He has no identity with the machine. But he was not afraid. “There will be no other way to lose this opportunity,” he thought. So he made up his mind and said, “I will learn. Give me a chance.”
Mr. Dutt arranged for him to train for a few days. Learning machine work was not easy. Raghur's hands were shaking at first, but he didn't give up. Worked hard day after day, learning the details of machine operation. He always thought of one thing in his mind - the pain of his parents. His efforts should not go in vain.
Within a few months, Raghu learned the machine well. Mr. Dutt was very happy with his work. He gave Raghu a permanent job in the factory, and Raghu's face was filled with a smile of success. He reinvented himself through work. He developed such a relationship with the machine that they understood each other. It was through his work that he found a new meaning in life—the meaning of Karma Yoga.
Raghu understood that life means work. No matter how hard it is, once you focus on your work, you will overcome all obstacles and succeed. He has now become not only a machine operator but also a good teacher to other factory workers. Many people are inspired by hearing the story of his hard work. Other youths in the village also became interested in working in the factory like him. Everyone understood that success in life will come with the combination of work and education.
Meanwhile, Raghu's parents also smiled. Their son has now learned to get along with everyone in the village. Raghu began to use a large portion of his earnings for village development. From bringing new books to village schools, he took an active role in repairing roads. His thought was not only to improve himself, but to do something for everyone in the society.
This is how Raghu found the real meaning of life through his Karma Yoga. Action became his identity, and he showed that through hard work and determination, it was possible to reach the pinnacle of success, be it village or city.
